The Story of
LANTHER BLACK
Jack Parker and Dominique Miranda are the creative partnership behind Lanther Black.
They met 10 years ago when Jack moved to London to pursue a career in acting. His first role was playing young Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace with the National Youth Theatre. Dominique also had a background in the performing arts having trained at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy.
Jack has continued to act with leading roles on the stage, commercials for brands like Audi and Belvita and television appearances including Emmerdale, Eastenders and Casualty but he also had several years of filmmaking experience behind him and it wasn’t long before the pair began to write and direct short films together which were screened at festivals around the world picking up accolades and critical acclaim.
In 2015 they found another medium for their storytelling in greeting cards. They approach their cards in much the same way as they approach their films. They create worlds which they populate with fun and colourful characters. Every card in their collection tells a story, either their own or those of their friends and family. Dominique writes original and witty titles and does the illustrations which she then hands over to Jack to be painted and turned into cards. This unique collaboration gives them the distinctive style that they have come to be known for.
Their greeting cards are now stocked in gift shops and garden centres across the U.K. as well as national retailers including Sainsbury’s and House of Cards. They have distribution around the world and a licensing deal in the United States.
They have developed wonderful friendships with the independent retailers who stock their cards, many of whom have been with them since the beginning of their journey. It was these retailers who supported and performed in their successful ‘Shop Independent’ campaign, a collaborative video encouraging people to support their independent retailers, which was shared more than 1000 times and received over 80000 views.
This led to a collaboration with the Greeting Card Association for whom they wrote and produced a short film celebrating the power of greeting cards. They directed a cast of nearly 30 members to film themselves performing lines of a poem, allowing the film to be made entirely whilst following social distancing measures.
Jack and Dominique continue to work together writing, directing and creating. Whether it’s a greeting card, a short film or a video campaign, they approach every project with passion, creativity and professionalism.

TESTIMONIALS
"Dominique and Jack are hugely talented artists and so patient and fun to work with. Their filmmaking skills, and knowledge of our industry, along with their passion for card sending and supporting local communities, made them the obvious partners for this project and we are absolutely thrilled with the film they have written and produced on behalf of our industry." Amanda Fergusson, CEO, Greeting Card Association.
